2027 is the year everyone starts talking to their agents. Out loud.
Three calls for 2027: voice becomes the way we work with agents, agents that use your computer go mainstream, and passive wearables capture the context. Plus the one company I would bet on.

It's raining in Melbourne, so here are my 2027 calls. Three things.
1. Voice agents become the interface.
Conversational voice keeps expanding until it's how most of us do most of our work. Less typing, less clicking, more just saying what you want and watching it happen. Yes, it'll feel weird at first. Then it won't.
2. Agents that use your computer for you get much bigger.
SpaceX AI's Grok Bot, OpenAI's dots, Anthropic's Duet. Still early, but they're finding their way into the enterprise. Day to day they're the personal assistant most of us never had: coordinating, managing tasks, clearing the inbox. Then they get embedded into whole organisations. The thing they have to solve is permissions and control: what an agent can touch, when it has to ask, and who signs off. That's where Grok Bot is more enterprise ready right now. I ran my own OpenClaw setup for a while and it was a pain. It kept falling over and things kept going wrong. Grok Bot comes packaged up for you. It just works, and the controls are a lot better. Hermes has the same problem: you manage it yourself on your own hardware or in the cloud, it's less supported and integrated, and proper voice needs your own infrastructure, so it gets expensive and too complicated. Copilot is hosted, but honestly it's super below average. Nothing special.
3. Passive wearables capture the context.
Not recording meetings on purpose. Just picking up context from what's around you. I'm not a fan of Meta's glasses. That feels like a privacy invasion. But a clip or something like it that captures conversations is coming. Yes, I see the irony. Everything said gets captured, organised by the agents from number 2 and filed away. Practically perfect recall.
So who wins? If I'm predicting one major winner for 2027, it's SpaceX AI. They've got a lot lined up. Cursor, now part of SpaceX AI, has been the quiet achiever for 18 months, and it brings everything together, and now with Grok Bot it's amazing. Add Grok, their Colossus data centre, plus the clusters that followed, as well as Starlink, Tesla, and everything else in the Muskiverse. There is a lot of talent and technology to draw from. I'm hardly neutral. I use Grok Bot every day. I'd still bet on it.
